Vida Mays, Ed.D

Dr. Vida Mays recently joined the Center for Policy and Public Theology at Yale University as the Interim Associate Director. She has held Higher Education leadership positions related to College Access, Student Success, and Retention throughout her career. Additionally, she has held leadership positions associated with institutional accreditations; Assessment and Planning, and Grants and Contracts. For six years, she also served as the Executive Director of the North Carolina Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office; offering a blend of services for children and youth throughout the state. Her experiences have provided her with a complement of skills to fuel her passion for promoting quality and equitable education and opportunities for historically marginalized and underrepresented students.  

A native of Memphis, Tennessee she holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a master’s degree from the University of Memphis (formerly, Memphis State University), and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee -Knoxville.
